Lily Livered

Being, as you doubtless are, an avid fan of this blog, you will no doubt remember the Bacon of Doom. The temptation to have bacon sandwiches every morning at work did wear off as I settled into my job, and I've since settled into a habit of toast and the occasional croissant. Last week, however, my culinary world was thrown into disarray.

I strolled down to the canteen for lunch one day, expecting the usual fare of mediocre slop which is unobjectionable and fairly cheap, but hardly cordon bleu. However I was shocked to be served a sweet and sour chicken, resplendent in a tasty sauce with highlights of ginger. I hardly knew what to do.

One down…

Well, I've taken the plunge and applied for my first "real" job. Something proper, for when I leave uni. Distressingly, it's rather a good job, and I really really want it! So a few hours of typing and 7 crazy questions later, I have submitted my application to be a Trainee Technologist at BBC Future Media and Technology in Kingswood Warren. It's well paid for a graduate job, especially one in media - I could possibly get more in an electronics firm, but that's not really what I want to do... my passion is technology in media. (the clue is in my degree title!) The location is fantastic - fairly close to both my friends in London and those in Sussex, but far enough from central London that I might even be able to afford to live! The job itself sounds very interesting and varied, with the 2 years spent doing allsorts with the most prestigious media R&D group in the world. Check out more at their website. I'm guessing application numbers will be high, so my chances may not be that great, but here's hoping...
