Cheesy Home Video: Sailing in Turkey, 2010
Having just got back from sailing in the bay of Fethie with my family last week, I decided to use iMovie on my iPhone to edit a quick and cheesy video.
Barcelona 2009 Photos
Last week I went to Barcelona with my dear friend Kat. Here's a few of the photos, more at http://blog.depomerai.com/photos/barcelona-2009/
Festive Update
It's been quite a pleasant festive season so far. I've spent time with lots of different friends and family, from work dinners to parties with uni friends, and spent Christmas day with my parents, sister, brother-in-law and nephew. A veritable festive feast of duck and turkey plus lots of playing with 15-month-old Sebastian's presents (and a bit of playing with my own ones) made for an enjoyable day. Right now I'm on a train up to Sheffield to see my aunt and grandad, which will be grand.
I've had some pretty decent presents, with special mention to my secret santa. As with many groups of friends, my closest uni friends and I have a bit of a secret santa tradition, and with a customary limit of £5, it's normally populated by complete tat designed only to put a smile on the face of the recipient rather than be of any use! But this year saw some good efforts, and I got a CD I actually wanted (the new Counting Crows). Not only had santa managed to find this for under £5, but even had enough spare to buy me a newspaper, in a nod to the year when I received a newspaper and a mars bar from a rather forgetful santa...! Got to love eBay...
New year will be an evening of comedy with some of the same friends at The King's Head in north London, no doubt accompanied by copious amounts of alcohol. I hope you too have had a great festive period and that 2009 is a great year for us all!

Sailing, the Uri Geller Way
I've just finished my first day on a new project at work, but more on that story another day. In the mean time... Just over a week ago I boarded a train, carrying a large rucksack, bound for Gatwick airport. I was off on holiday; a week's sailing out of Porto Rosa, Sicily. Blissful, I thought. However things didn't quite go to plan. What follows is a story of shock, intrigue, injury, danger, stress, pain, manky food, accidental wine, fizzy tea, crazy Duchmen, even crazier Italians and a fair few broken things, including boats, plumbing and bits of my family. This is a very long post, but it'll be amusing, I promise. And most surprising of all, every word is true...
A Brief Update
It's been so long since I posted that my friends are complaining about it through their Facebook statuses. How sad is that? I've been very busy, and while I have a couple of interesting (at least to the techies) posts up my sleeve, I thought I'd briefly let you know what's going in my world.
Blues in the Netherlands
As I mentioned in my last post, I recently went to Amsterdam for a long weekend with an extra special reason - seeing John Mayer (and others) at Picnic in the Park in the Hague.
Pancakes and Canal Boats
I speak with a certainty known only to the deluded when I say I am sure you will recall my post of March last year entitled Custard and Canal Boats. In it, I told you about my trip to Lisbon, the wonderful desserts I ate there, and the strange discovery of a bus disguised as a canal boat. Well, just over a week ago now, I visited Amsterdam, where I indulged in pancakes (more than once!) and took a trip on a real life canal boat, so I figured it was time for a quick update...
Knick-knacks, PADI, Flats, Finding me a home…
Oh dear. Once again, it has been aaagggeeeesss since I wrote anyting meaningful here. There's a reason for that though. If I may quote Elcock's Law of Diaries (by my friend - well, friend of a friend - Tom Elcock), The time one is willing to spend writing in a diary is inversely proportional to the stuff worth writing in it. It's so true. Anyway, lets get on...
When I Was 22...
...it was a very good year. No, it actually was. Well OK, is.
It all started pretty well with my best set of uni results ever, an awesome week's holiday with friends and a great summer. 2 weeks sailing in Turkey was one of the best holidays ever, and then my 4th year at uni has been pretty OK too. But most of all, my big news...
For anyone who hasn't had the pleasure of seeing or speaking to me in the last week, I have a job! Woo!
Custard and Canal Boats
Well I promised more news soon, and it's been a while, so here goes. I apologise, by the way, for the custard theme which seems to be emerging in this blog. It's worrying me slightly...
Well it's been a big few weeks. YSTV's annual student union elections coverage rocked and was a huge amount of fun, though very tiring. Job hunting has continued, and I got asked for another interview. More on that story later...
