Life in imminent danger...
I was sitting down to continue my blog series on the 3 concerts I recently went to, when I was distracted. An alarm bell was ringing. Thinking it must be home-time, I got up from my desk and wandered into the kitchen, where I realised that the bell was ringing continuously... like a fire alarm. I couldn't work out where it was coming from. Outside somewhere. Perhaps the unlucky residents of one of our neighbouring buildings were about to be tastily flame-grilled. Thankfully not. Hang on. That alarm seems to be coming from the below... like the ground floor of our building. Wander to the flat's front door... nope, no alarm in the hallway. No smoke either. Good.
Two Thousand And Great!
Happy New Year! And welcome to what my good pal Trevor is calling Two Thousand And Great. Do you see what he did there? Pure genius.
I started this year drunk with friends, which seems appropriate. Then I had a McDonald's strawberry milkshake to salve my hangover, which hit the spot, but isn't exactly what I'd call starting as I mean to go on.
Filthy Scrubber
I've just been all decked out in my bright yellow rubber gloves, scrubbing away in my kitchen - it's a good look, I tells ya. I just wanted to share with you the delights that Dave and I have found recently...
Our flat when we moved in could best be described as clean-ish. It had clearly been cleaned, but not very well. We've worked wonders doing simple things like cleaning light fittings and scrubbing work surfaces. But the "white" window frames have always looked awful. Those in the bedrooms got re-painted for us, but the living room and, in particular, kitchen ones looked foul. So we thought we'd see if they came clean with a bit of a scrub.
A lot of a scrub and a fair amount of Stardrops and Flash With Bleach later, and spank my arse and call me Charlie - the window frames actually are white under all that grease and grime! Seriously, check out the picture. On the left is how it looked before cleaning, on the right is how it looks after.
Cheers kids - see ya soon. That job update is coming, I swear. Actually, maybe I'll do it this afternoon...
There's No Place Like Home
Well, it's been a very very busy couple of weeks. Lots to update you on, so rather than one completely huge post I'll add a few smaller ones over the next day or 2. First up, an update on the flat...
High Hopes. High Rise.
Well, here I am again, finally getting round to updating you. Having been assured that these posts don't make my friends want to kill themselves (feel free to disagree...), I shall go ahead and tell you a little about where I'm sitting right now.
I'm in the front room of mine and Dave's lovely lovely new flat in Battersea. But first, a little back story... Imagine, if you will, some of the flats we looked at. Such as the one above a kebab shop (mmmm...greasy)
